Web Survey Bibliography
„Können wir mal eben die Umfrage ins Netz hängen?“ Das Internet hat seit seiner vereinfachten Bedienbarkeit mit Hilfe von Browsern seit 1994 die empirische Sozialforschung enorm erweitert. Online-Umfragen, Web-Interviews, Online-Experimente oder Logfile-Analysen sind neuerdings beliebte methodische Alternativen für Sozialforscher. Allerdings wurde die empirische Forschung durch das Internet zwar bereichert, aber nicht vereinfacht, wie viele meinen. Denn das vordergründig Simple vieler Online-Methoden erweist sich als Trugschluss, die „Demokratisierung der Forschung“ findet – allenfalls – bei den Forschungskosten statt. Empirisches Methodenwissen ist mehr denn je gefragt – auch in Zeiten von Web-Fragebögen. Wie dieses Buch zeigt, müssen Online-Methoden voll verstanden, richtig ein- und schlüssig umgesetzt werden. Erst dann entfalten sie ihre volle Leistungsfähigkeit. Das Buch zeigt die gängigsten Methoden und deren praktische Anwendungsbereiche: Zunächst werden entlang des gesamten Forschungsprozesses – von der Auswahl der Untersuchungseinheiten über die Datenerhebung bis hin zur Auswertung – online-spezifische Grundlagen erklärt und anschließend konkrete Anwendungsbeispiele gezeigt. Die theoretische Einführung in die Online-Befragung wird ergänzt durch Kapitel zur Online-Mitarbeiterbefragung, die Einführung in Online-Experimente und zur Werbemittelforschung. Auch seltenere Methoden, wie die Cyber-Geografie, der in Zukunft ggf. ein stärkeres Gewicht zukommen könnte, werden vorgestellt. Neben der Einführung in die Methodik nennt das Buch die wichtigsten Akteure der deutschsprachigen Online-Forschungsszene: Verbände und Marktforschungsunternehmen, aber auch wissenschaftliche Konferenzen, Diskussionsforen und Mailinglisten werden kurz vorgestellt. Ein umfangreiches Literaturverzeichnis und ein Stichwortregister runden die Publikation ab.
